month: November 2009
It started as a day off from running, I went to Alston Park here in Napa, did some speed walking on the hills, checked nearby vineyards for autumn color and just enjoyed being out. Weaving around and up and down the trails I suddenly looked up and saw amazing light across the bit of a valley and with so many clouds to the southwest and nearing sunset I knew I had little time so I took off running towards the light.

Run, stop, grab the shot, got the rush, thought of the biathlon, cross-country skiing and rifle shooting, something I have always wanted to try; it’s on the DO list. Seems I created my own version as I the run the pasture like hills. The light, fleeting, would appear from behind the clouds and I’d take off trying for an angle, a shot. It was that edgy rush of the unknown as the ground was thick with grass, dried and newly green, there were holes and I didn’t know what with each step. Running, shooting, running shooting and I loved it. Here the first photo I ran for and my choice biathlon shot of the day.
