Napa wedding at The Meritage Resort

I’m not one to toot my own horn as I believe photos speak for themselves. But, this photo, taken last summer at the Meritage Resort & Spa here in Napa, won a place in the Wedding Photojournalists Association’s Q4 contest. A big deal with this international group as it’s difficult to become and stay a member and amazing to win or place in any contest and Q4 is the best of the best from the whole year. Rather cool and with a really wonderful couple in the photo.

This shot was taken at twilight as the couple was signing all paperwork by flashlight; the bridal party surrounded them in the warmth of the summer evening on the terrace above the resort.

Last weekend, while cool and breezy on the coast, was beautiful for Kristina and Dave who were married at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Pebble Beach.

Two weeks ago I photographed a destination wedding in Colorado Springs and a wedding a most meaningful and filled with emotion.

Not sharing more than to say there was a passing in the family the week of the wedding I will say that at such a time of deep grief there was the bigger picture of life, love and family.

Wedding day photos happen, in each moment, whether aware or not, and it is my preference to capture what is natural in the day. All the joy, the bliss, the love, emotion and the connections with family and friends. This week as the website was being adjusted and images changed I saw this photo of a bride’s sister; she was simply waiting on her sister at Stanford University – waiting in lovely light and looking so beautiful in the moment.
